At Present

Welcome to my homepage in the Cloud! I am currently a Ph.D. research student in the Department of Computing, University of Surrey. The research area I am interested in is a combination of advanced computing technologies and Financial Risk Analysis, including: the performance of Grid and Cloud Computing; Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Economics of Grids/Clouds; and Financial Risk Management and Analysis, in particular Market Risk (Value at Risk, VaR). I am supervised by Dr. Lee Gillam, University of Surrey.

I am at present exploring the total cost and performance of Cloud systems among different Cloud systems, including Amazon, Google, IBM, Microsoft, Sun and Eucalyptus. Such performance and price benchmark is considered very useful and essential to build future Grid/Cloud economics.

Recent Activities

Research fellow of the project - "Fair Benchmarking for Cloud Computing Systems (more...)" (UK EPSRC (EP/I034408/1)).

Teaching assistant of MSc module "Cloud Computing" in Unversity of Surrey (2010, Spring; 2011, Spring), supervizing and supporting the Lab sessions. (more...)

Previous

I received my M.Sc. degree with distinction in Internet Computing from the department of Computing, University of Surrey, UK, in 2007. I gradually built up the necessary knowledge and skills with a wide range of research: Software Agents, IBM Mainframe Computing, P2P networks, Multimedia Security and so on. My interests in Financial Risk Management and Grid/Cloud Computing is derived from such research aided by a fully funded Ph.D. scholarship.

I also received my B.Sc. in Computer Science (major) and B.A. in Chartered Public Account (minor) from Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, Nanchang, Jiangxi, P.R.China, in 2003. This was followed by work in a software engineer role in two software companies in KunMing from Oct, 2003 to May, 2006.

What else

When relaxing, I enjoy travelling everywhere with my digital camera, to record anything and everything I appreciate. I also enjoy reading books and listening to New Age music.
